Why not start up your own urban pigeon control business and get paid by the city to hunt them?

As far as eating them goes, I would imagine that they taste similar to a mourning dove when properly prepared, which is quite tasty.

he isn't going to be able to shoot them. he'll probably have to do it humanely or not even kill them at all, just move them to a new location.

How do you kill a bunch of pigeons humanely? Capture them and dump in gas chamber?

Right, and start the next holocaust.

Is it legal to just shoot birds with a BB gun in Ontario, Canada?

my co-worker is a gun collector and loves hunting...but he always have a rule about you eat what you shoot.

when his son in law shot a squirrel, he made him eat it. i find that hard to believe. but my co-worker did say he had to call his grandmother on how to cook a squirrel.

Squirrels can be tasty if properly prepared.

in the city, ew

Pigeons are rats with wings.

We aren't gonna eat them raw 🙂

Can't really shoot in the city either, unless some park or whatever

I would have to be worried about some sort of disease/parasite. Unless you are going out in the backwoods somewhere, I wouldn't eat any hunted animal. Cities crawl with diseases and insects (a big food source) are livid with them...

Imagine trying to explain where you really got Hep C from...

Heh, I don't know these dudes. Belarus and other countries that were in USSR have more than 100 people each, you know 😉

SirStev0 - thanks for the concern, but my friend won't listen. I'll let him eat first and see if he catches anything 🙂

Are you pulling lines out of your ass?

You need a hunting license to hunt animals on your own property except for certain fur-bearing animals or animals that are causing problems at least in Texas. I definitely couldn't kill a deer if It walked onto my front lawn unless it started attacking me or ruining property.

i want some passenger pigeon pie!🙁

Some decimation in numbers occurred as a result of loss of habitat, when the Europeans started settling further inland. However, the primary factor emerged when pigeon meat was commercialized as a cheap food for slaves and the poor in the 19th century, resulting in hunting on a massive scale. There was a slow decline in their numbers between about 1800 and 1870, followed by a catastrophic decline between 1870 and 1890,[6] at the end of which they were rare and beyond the point of recovery. 'Martha', thought to be the world's last passenger pigeon, died on September 1, 1914 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

i bet they were delicious... geez, good thing lobster is probably staying around. lobster used to be food for the poor too.

thank God they can't shoot back,

but they can bomb you

always take your umbrella to Trafalger Square, even on sunny days
