Shooting on Purdue Campus

Looks like they have the perp:

"According to the university, one person is in custody.

Police have cleared the building and continue to search the area. People should remain sheltered in place until further notice."

How is this even possible if Purdue is a gun-free zone? Any would-be shooter would not even be allowed to take a firearm on campus.

Critical thinking, people!

Because crazies, and because illegal and because mental health.

solution = moar gunz!

I always find it interesting so that few people march into gun stores and start shooting. Or police stations. Or NRA meetings.

Seems like they always target places where guns aren't allowed. Don't they know that's illegal?!

This shows you how smart the people who own guns are.

The article makes it sound like a targeted murder that just happened to occur on campus, rather than an actual school shooting incident.

Purdue officials said the shooting wasn't random and no threat remained on campus.

Pre-meditated, targeted murder.

I was inside the building on the 2nd floor as this happened. (event was in the basement)

Shouting - and police rushing in with guns drawn, I've never seen anything like it.

Still very rattled. 😱

As if being a TA doesn't suck enough already, now they all have to live in fear that if they grade somebody down they may get shot

Schools should be sacred. They are supposed to be a place of safety.

I'd be in favor of it being a federal, capital crime to do this kind of thing.

I never had anyone threaten me with a weapon, but I had a guy get in my face when he was upset. A small part of me was amused by the idea that he would likely be expelled if he hit me. Didn't happen, though.

Should have tased him in the nut sack.

Was a couple buildings away, pretty sketchy. We were not really that well informed. They continued with classes as it happened but then cancelled class for the rest of the day and all of tomorrow.

Was it in a study lounge, a classroom, or one of the labs.

I took EE201 & 207 in that building in the mid nineties.

Aren't a lot of school shootings about retribution and murder of an individual (often teacher) or group (bullies)? Columbine seemed premeditated.
