Shooting a REAL .50 cal today!!

Since I play the sniper kit most of the time in BF2 it was a kick in the A$$ to shoot a real Barrett today.I put 4 out of 6 shots on target at 850yds. Also got to shoot the SAW and Browning .30 cal machinegun. A great day for sure.😀

While many of us have used these weapons virtually, this topic may be a better fit for ATOT. Oakenfold PCG and Security Moderator

so, would you say BF2 helped train you for your experience? I know the anti FPS people always bitch about how a game such as BF2 is basically online gun training.

If anything, watching movies/playing games might make you recognize and more easily pick up various ways of holding a gun and correct form but it's not going to help you aim better or anything like that. I've shot a c7 rifle and saw many others do so, some people are better than others and I don't think games has much to do with it.

Sorry, but the "REAL" .50 cal is the M2. Like this one I am pictured with. 😉

I wouldnt say shooting it so much. Sure it may look the same looking thru the sights. But there is breathing, trigger control, windage, etc to deal with. But you do get familiar with how vehicles look, weapons looks, and things of that nature.

The biggest things games like CoD4 are so good at, is moving as a team. A Fireteam is four guys, moving, working, and covering each other. I thought CoD4 did that great, same goes for the wods that they used. It was really accurate.

Having shot hundreds of rounds from my customized 30-.06 I had a good basic knowledge of elevation ,windage etc. But just to shoot that massive .50 cal round is awsome.

didn't include the part where the four dudes on the team hit the showers and moved, worked and covered together. I guess parents don't care for that part.

No regrets man. All your range time with the 30-06 clearly served you well. I would be intimidated by the potential recoil and I am sure it would affect my scores until I got used to it.
I never fired anything more powerful than a Winchester model 70 300 Mag, and that fairly kicked my ass. It was light and I was light too at the time (14) 🙂

I have a .50 cal sitting in my safe, fun to shoot too...although, it requires a little black powder and lead balls.

Except its on a crappy HMMV. 🙂 But thats probably Garrison...

But yeah, they always have nicer gear.
