I hate when this happens...

I parked the car and put the keys in my jacket pocket. They must have fallen out and landed between the seat and the armrest.

I didn't check my pocket until the door was swinging shut, and by the time I realized my keys weren't on me, it was too late.

pwned

Don't feel bad. I locked the keys in my old car 6 times before getting a spare made. Total to unlock my car ~$200 Cost of spare key $3. Now that's pwned.

Thankfully my Toyota won't let me lock the keys in the car.

I keep the driving key in the car and hide it somewhere in the car when I park. I carry the spare with the remote to unlock it. The spare is what fell out and got locked inside the car.

keyless entry ftw!

my car won't let me lock the door with the fob until it's shut. makes it pretty much impossible to lock the keys in.

Hmmm... I do have one more key at home - but I'd have to take the Blue Line from Damen to Irving Park, walk 10-15 minutes to my place, get the key, walk back to the train and take the train back to Wicker Park.

Maybe I can talk my boss into driving me up there to get it... nah, probably not.

Even on my old cars without central locking, I never lock my door from inside. I always lock it using the key. Probably a habit I picked up from my old Honda which wouldn't let me lock the driver's door if it was open.

It will if you hold the inside door handle open.

(Driving a '96 Accord - when I have the keys)

Our new Civic won't let us lock the door from the inside. Good idea cause keys are $100 a pop, and I am so use to leaving the car without locking the door or taking the key out (driving schools).

I used to. My current vehicle has a keypad entry on the driver's door, so I don't anymore.

Man, I think everyone who carries a spare in their wallet had to learn the hard way.

I was dropping something off at someone's house (previous vehicle), they weren't in, I called while sitting in the car (switched off, side of the road), and they told me to just leave it in the mailbox. I get out, close door, put package in mailbox, return, realize I had reflexively locked the door, but the key, and more importantly, my cellphone, were sitting on the passenger seat.

Man, that sucked.

I had a former g/f that locked the the keys in the vehicle when we were in a local park. Had to walk over a mile to get out of the park to get to a phone to call my brother to get the spare keys. What a crazy evening.

Well I just got off the phone with my regular tire joint which is less than half a mile away, and they're gonna help me out in an hour or so.

Find a nook underneath the car to stash a spare key, secured by a magnetic key holder box.

I remember when I got my first car I drove it home from the dealer and promptly locked all 3 car keys inside it. Called a locksmith to jimmy it open. $44!

In my twelve years of driving, I have locked my keys in the car exactly once.
I either twirl the keys on the ring or pat my pocket before I shut the door when I get out.

That's why I like my car has a 7 second delay between when I shut the door and when it actually locks.

Also why i have a spare key stashed on my car as well.
