I saw The Godfather a few years ago and loved it ever since. I also loved Animal House. Oh, for new movies... KKBB was hilarious!

There's nothing shocking about the godfather being good 🙂

I know, but remember what you thought the first time you watched it? I for one thought it was fvcking awesome. 😛

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, heard nothing about it when i watched it and loved it.

Moulin Rouge, watched it in theaters after being dragged by friends. Ended up enjoying it. One of the few musicals i can stand

Requiem for a Dream
Running Scared was pretty good
i also liked Hitch, thought it was gonna be really cheesy but Eva is drop dead gorgeous and paired Willy pretty well.

Buster Keaton's The General. I had never seen a movie by him before so I had no idea what I was getting myself into(even though it's rated high on imdb). It was a random occurrence too. I woke up at around 3:30am and turned on the television and The General was playing on TCM. It reminded me of watching a good Jackie Chan movie...plenty of amazing stunts and good laughs.

I still don't understand why Requiem is always on people's favorites lists. It's an over-dramatized, unrealistic, stereotypical D.A.R.E. movie with cinematography that gives you a headache after the first 15 minutes. It's a typical story of what MIGHT happen if you're a moron and abuse whatever you get your hands on and have absolutely no self control, all the while making every wrong choice you can. And don't tell me it's a story of your typical dope addict (heroin or otherwise), because it's not. And anyone who believes it isn't learning anything, they're just Ooh-ing and Ahh-ing at an exaggerated concept that exploits poorly-founded stereotypes for shock factor.

*ahem*

That is all. 😉

Clerks II

I thought it might be funny, but I had to pause the movie more than once because I was laughing so hard.

I'd like to add Kung Fu Hustle to the list. I thought it was going to be really bad, but it turned out to be one of the better films i've seen in recent years.

I agree with this pick, I thought KFH was going to suck. I was under the impression it was going to be a goofy spoof movie, turned out it was one of the best karate flicks I've seen in a long time. The scene with the mandolin playing assasins is worth the price of the rental alone.

---> CRANK <------ !!!

this had nothing going for it. the lead was in a series of lame macho-bs flicks, the director was no-name, script was pedestrian. i was expecting same ol' mindless blah-blah. yet the damn execution was amazing. wow. it doesn'ts top. energy was so relentless you didn't care one wit for the lack of narrative profundity.

Worlds Fastest Indian
Thought that movie was going to suck worse then a hover, boy was I wrong. Glued to the tv from beginning to end. Damn good movie it turned out to be.

Definitely. Sort of a sleeper, not advertised or hyped much, but excellent.

My pick ???.
I dunno.
Every once in a while I pick up an unknown movie and it turns out to be pretty good. Cant think of any off the top of my head.

Fierce Creatures was a great movie that got none of the acclaim of A Fish Called Wanda and was actually much better.

Terminator 3 was surprisingly good to me because i expected it to completely blow and it ended up being pretty solid (not quite the smae as the first 2, but still good). Children of God and requium for a dream were also really good and I had never heard of them before, i watched those 2 and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas all in a row on a theme movie night (drugs), and they all ended up really good. Also, apparently nobody think the 3 new star wars movies were good, but I really liked them, the second one is one of my favourite movies.

QFT, was very surprised. but its defenatly a theater movie didn't have the same action on DVD at home

only reason I saw this flick is because I wanted to see a movie with some friends and we had seen everything that looked decent already

This is not a favorites post...its a movie that was good that you expected to be horrible. For instance...Grandma's Boy. Didn't expect to laugh my pants off but now its one of the funniest comedies I have seen in a long time...gamers will enjoy this flick BTW.

I'd definitely second that.

Just watched Kung Fu Hustle - the first time around I was too busy laughing, but I was amazed at how effective the use of audio effects were in the movie.

I doubt more than a few poeple would agree, but I think I <3 Huckabees was the most hilarious movie I've seen in a while.

no it was good. 🙂
