No surprise here and our resident GOP trolls further echo the similar findings that many pollsters have found. White voters with no education vote Republican. In other words, GOP = white trash. This further spells longterm doom for the GOP as this voting block is actually dwindling compared to other key demographics. There is simply no way a candidate can win a national election primarily relying on these people, as Romney will soon find out.

When the baby boomers die off, they're in big trouble. They're the ones who remember that race traitor LBJ letting the "minorities" pollute and contaminate the American Dream.

They're still not as racist as the black voters mentioned in this thread.

Nice try at a little false equivalency though.

Let me break it down for you mono.

Stupid white trash = GOP.

That's not a voting block you want to bet your party on.

Perhaps the OP missed the parts where this is a traditionally Democrat demographic, or where Obama also lost college-educated whites.

On average, Obama has lost nearly 6 percentage points among white voters without a college degree. Given that Obama had already lost millions of traditionally Democratic white working class voters in 2008, this degree of further deterioration is striking. In the three national polls conducted since April, Obama held just 34 percent of white voters without a college degree, compared to 40 percent in 2008. Thirty-four percent places Obama in the company of Walter Mondale, George McGovern, and the 2010 House Democrats. These are landslide numbers.

In 2008, Obama lost white college graduates by four points and whites without a college degree by 19 points.
Reading - it's not just for the uneducated anymore.

Before OP goes around denouncing other's intelligence, he might want to work on that reading comprehension.

You really didn't need to post this, it's a well known fact. Look at the people who post here for the GOP, they can barely spell or put an insightful argument together.

They may be "uneducated". But at least they can still earn a living.

1.) The article says without a college degree. Not with "no education". Why do you hate people that go into a trade for instance. Your elitism is showing.

2.) Also funny that you think anyone without a college degree is "trash".

I am uneducated white trash. My parents were uneducated white trash. They made me study and I learned all manner of the stuff they didn't know. Then they told me I was stupid for believing it. I found out that if I wanted to love my parents I had to love white trash. It was them dummies that learned me now to do this. You won't learn that at Berkeley or at least not from the curriculum.

No no no! Only white people without a college degree are trash.

Presumably the OP is an adherent of the White Man's Burden theory and some of us aren't holding up our end.

While I object to the OP's characterizations, Working class Whites voting against their own economic interests started with Nixon, and then Reagan, for entirely emotional reasons. Repub leaders always try to whip them into a mindless frenzy with wedge issues, and succeed all too often.

Some of the poorest regions in the Country are the most conservative, even reactionary, and they'd be a whole shitpile poorer if it weren't for the Big Gubmint they've been taught to despise.

I was also poor white trash. I was however driven to learn. I cut school to go to libraries and museums. I have a great deal of formal education as well. In fact I know so much that I don't know anything. And so you and I find ourselves at the same place in many ways. We merely took different paths to get there.

I see it about like I do Republicans strutting around like peacocks about businesses they start because they live in a country that taxes have created the infrastructure to make success easy. These delusional fat heads, full of nasty ego, aren't so different than proud liberals that sacrificed to educate themselves and learned to think. In both cases public infrastructure made success possible, not any great gift of the individual. Looking down on folk who didn't have opportunity, lacked competitive hate, or just enjoy life day to day, is disgusting whether it's from liberals or conservatives. Everything that has ever happened happened exactly as it had to. There is only one feeling that any truly rational person should ever have and that's gratitude.

You are falsely assuming that people without a college degree are poor.

1.) Look up how much plumbers make

2.) Look at the chart I posted above about how those with very low incomes vote Democrat by a wide margin.

Your chart does not account for demographic factors like race & sex. Nor does it account for regional patterns.

It counters the information in the OP's link not in the slightest.

If you believe success is easy, you've obviously not tried it. Building a business is one of the most difficult things one can attempt, much harder work than simply working for someone else. As for infrastructure, I'd say that infrastructure doesn't make success possible, it merely makes success possible at a larger scale. A hot mess like Somalia certainly has people who are successful - people who have a better idea or simply work harder (and their progeny.) People who are successful fishermen or farmers or restaurateurs. But Somalia will never have a Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or Mitt Romney; it simply lacks the infrastructure to allow success at that level. However, whether America or Somalia, it is the individual who makes success, not the infrastructure. Otherwise we'd all be wealthy business owners, as we all enjoy the same basic access to infrastructure.

I agree that luck of the draw has a huge determinant on success as well. Someone who is born to a single crack mother in the despairing depths of Cabrini Green has a much, much more difficult time becoming worth $200 million than does Mitt Romney, born with all the advantages. But there are also plenty of trust fund babies who create nothing but despair. If one has created something or achieved something through one's own hard work and ingenuity, one has a perfect right to be proud of that accomplishment, even while being grateful for the infrastructure around him and humbly recognizing that others might not enjoy the same starting point or have the same value system. Denying others the right to have pride in their accomplishments is a form of pride in itself, pride in not having false pride.

I got side-tracked in studying the things that I loved by my quest to save the world from relative thinking. Hehe, I got serious about questioning everything. I opened Pandora's box out of some perversity of my nature and sure enough, it was a can of nasty worms. I had to find out why people suffer. I loved the biological sciences and chemistry, but I got hit by a freight train. Hehe
