Shipping Question on a computer

I am interested in selling a computer in For Sale/Trade...I am curious as to how I would ship it should the item sell. Suggestions on packing, things to include and so on would be helpful.

It would be a monitor, computer and keyboard/mouse, along with speakers.

I haven't had to ship a PC but if I was to do that here's what I'd do:

1) Remove all drives from the case and package each one in a small box using anti-static bags and styrofoam
2) Remove all cards & RAM and do the same with them as you did with the drives
3) Secure the loose ends of the power cables left in the PC case
4) Wrap the PC case in styrofoam wrap and then wrap it in bubble wrap
5) Put cushioning material in the bottom of the box then put the PC on top of it
6) Put cushioning material on each side of the PC case inside of the box
7) Put styrofoam peanuts on top of the PC then put the small boxes on top of that
8) Put more styrofoam peanuts inside the box and then close it with a good quality shipping tape

Make sure you use a good quality box that won't easily get ripped or have damage occur to it and also make sure to insure the package that you ship.

Holy cow. How much do you spend on packing materials???

Good lord, Dell ships PCs all the time without going to so much trouble, and lately they've been using HUGE heatsinkson their mobos. I keep the boxes and packaging my monitors came in for this very reason. You aren't going to create a shipping package any better than that!

Not that much really. When I get ready to sell a bunch of stuff I buy shipping materials in bulk.

This is true. I guess the main keys in shipping are that you use a good sturdy box and the item being shipped has a good bit of insulation on each side so that it doesn't bounce around a bunch.
