Hey guys,

I wasn't sure where to ask this, but I figured the hardware forumn would be a good start. Now that my new computer is completely up and running, I plan on selling the parts from my old system. I have most of the original packaging that came with each component, but do not have any of the original packaging from my P4 processor. How would one go about packaging a processor, along with the original heatsink, for shipping? I was thinking a static bag surrounded by bubble wrap would be the safest, but thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

if you want it to arrive with about 20 bent pins at all 4 corners go ahead and do this.
if you could find something similar to what it came it that would be best.
i'm sure someone will have a good idea.
i just wanted to put the static bag idea out of your head. i had that happen to me and it took me 45 minutes to get the pins to where it would fit in the slot

Yep, that's why I asked. I am looking for a small plastic holder now. Thanks for the response.

Buy a thick sponge, cut into big square, pop chip into square sponge piece and then put in bubble wrap. Wrap HS seperately and do not put HS anywhere near where it can hit the cpu.

Yeah, that's what I would suggest too :)

Awesome idea. I was actually planning on shipping the processor in a separate box altogether, just to be safe. Thanks a bunch!
