shipping a large monitor? which carrier - UPS/USPS/Fedex?

Anyone know what carriers will ship a large monitor

monitor package specs - 75lbs 28 x 28 x 25.5 NOKIA 445 pro

It seems its too big for UPS, at least according to their website..
anyone know of any other shipping options that are not too expensive.

not too big for UPS. i was behing a guy in line once shipping a surfboard or something, or a wing to an airplane, something big. I like Fedex, but it it's not close enough, go UPS

Don't use UPS, they break everything and then decide not to pay up even if it's insured...

I'd use FedEx.

It doesn't matter, just pick the cheapest. It all really just comes down to luck since they all break stuff.

Acutally, I think that you may have better luck with Airborne Express. But regardless, I had a 19" Samsung 900NF and a 21" Sony G520 shipped to me...my Samsung made it in the best condition (Airborne)...Sony-->3 tries (UPS, FedEx 2times).


Best situation is that you go on a road trip and pick up the monitor or drop it off personally.

Dont pick ups, got my monitor with a big hole in the side and a chip on screen... was a PAIN in the ass to get it back even though I had to not pay for anything.

If you use UPS you better pack alot of extra protection in there, Use cardboard or foam to protect it.

FedEx Ground would probably be your best bet. Unless you want to pay a lot more for shipping and send it FedEx Express Saver, 2nd day air, or next day air.

Stay away from UPS. They break everything.

Every package I've gotten from them in the past year or so has has significant damage to the packaging. The contents was OK, except for the framed painting I got from my brother as a gift. It honestly appeared as though they drove a truck over it. The heavy wooden frame was broken and everything! I got one a few weeks ago week where the contents were literally hanging out the side of the crushed box. Luckily nothing fragile.

When I bought the parts for my last system, I received 6 boxes: 3 from Airborne, 2 from FedEx, and 1 from UPS. The UPS package was badly damaged, but luckily the Antec case was OK. The boxes from the other shippers didn't have as much as a scuff on them.

I won't ship anything UPS anymore if I have any choice in the matter.

I would use FedEx Ground. Cheap and take pretty decent care of their stuff.

I've only received monitors via UPS three times.

My 17" Nanao monitor arrived with with what looked like a forklift tine hole punched through the front of the box. Whatever it was nicked the plastic-wrap around the monitor, but did not damage the immediately contiguous monitor face. Pure luck that the monitor survived.

The second monitor was a 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u. It was clearly obvious that this monitor had spent a fair amount of time outside of its case rolling around loading docks. It was severely scratched, scoured, and part of the case was broken off.

The replacement unit for the above 19" monitor arrived somewhat worse for the wear, but still intact. I have never completely succeeded in adjusting the picture on this one. No matter how hard I try at least some part of the picture is too wide/narrow when compared with the rest of the picture. This raises in my mind the question as to whether it was mistreated to the point that some of its internal elements are out of alignment.

In short, I am totally unable to recommend UPS on the basis of the experiences I have had with them.

It may just be a fact of life that there is no freight company that is worth a damn at this.
