I've got to go to Iowa for college this coming semester and of course I'm going out there by plane. I don't think it will be taken good care of in baggage, so I'm thinking it would be better to ship it. What is the most reliable way to ship a computer to a P.O. box? I'm also going to send my LCD. I sent a tower a couple months ago for somebody by USPS and it was only 38 bucks or so, which I can definitely deal with. Anyone have more extensive experience with this? The last thing I sent was somebody else's, but this is mine. I want it to be okay when it gets there.

If you're shipping to a USPS PO Box you only have 1 option - USPS.

Do you have the original manufacturers packaging for the LCD monitor?

No, I don't think so. They sell these big boxes at the post office though, I should be able to put plenty of padding into it. I have no particular problem with the job USPS did last time, the computer arrived in working condition as far as I know. I'd just rather not take any chances if there happens to be a better option available.

Take it as carry-on.

The tower and the LCD? Would they let me?

You ought to be able to. The tower is one piece, the LCD in a briefcase is your "personal item".
