Oh that's funny, my last shipment of underage Chinese sweatshop workers spontaneously combusted. What a coincidence.

The key phrase here is "Bulk container shipments of pistachio nuts". So as long as the volume is less than that of an alternator you're going to be fine. Bigger than alternator size = fucked.

I imagine it is because of the vibration of the transport causing the pistachios to rub against each other over the duration of the transport and you got a big pile of "popcorn" waiting to happen.

I was thinking something along these lines... except what causes the explosion is the fine powder formed when the nuts (hehe) rub against each other... similar to explosions in flour mills...

maybe?

I figure the static discharge ignite the air-dust mixture. Functions just like thermobaric weapons.

It's only gay if the nuts rub up against each other....

Yes many things do. Stacked hay does as well. Break down over time, releasing heat. Too much of it, and poof. Fire.

It's also supposedly started wars.

See the Spanish-American War...

That was just the excuse. US of A wanted that war. Some argue Hearst wanted the war, but he just wanted to sell papers. The government wanted expansion.

But the fact that so many people read it, means that if it's not accurate somebody will change it. In general the information there is accurate, but sometimes you get stuff that is false or a "white lie".
