Shiny cars?

This is prolly a absolute newb thread (I'm totally ignorant about cars, I'm way into computers to be a car guy), but how do cars get this shiny? I mean, it's an older car, prolly by about 10 yrs. I have the same car, but it looks absolutely drab compared to the vibrancy of that one, and I wash my car regularly and even had a wax job. So what is it? A detail? Or some special goob? Man, even the windows looks newer then new! Please help me, I want my car to be cool looking!
