so yesterday morning i noticed these couple patches of rashes on the left side of my torso. i looked it up on webmd.com, and it seems like i have the beginnning of shingles. i'm going to the doctor's in a couple hours for him to check it out.

i just wondered if anyone at around my age, 19 has had this. i thought it usually happened to people in their 60's+.

Had a woman friend who came down with shingles when she was about 50. They were very painful. Hope you are wrong about having them.

What are shingles?

They're things you put on the roof of your house. When you "get Shingles," you start growing these little things that look like roofing with tar stuck on them all around your torso. They're painful because the edges are sharp and the tar rips your hair out when you tug on it.

And they're hot as hell in the summer!:Q

wtf makes you think that its shingles and not just a rash?

them being only on one side of my stomach, and being in patches similiar to how webmd described them. 🙁

I have had shingles. I was 20 when i got them. Tehy suck. You normally get them around ur rib cage under your and pecs and on your back under your shoulder blade. They can be very painful. Not really much a doctor can do. They normally give u some antibiotics and send u on ur way. They normally last for a couple months. Hope this helps....

What is Shingles?
Shingles is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the virus that causes chickenpox. Shingles occurs in people who have had chickenpox and represents a reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. The disease generally affects the elderly, although it occasionally occurs in younger and/or immunodeficient individuals. The first sign is usually a tingling feeling, itchiness, or stabbing pain on the skin. After a few days, a rash appears as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face. The rash develops into small, fluid-filled blisters which begin to dry out and crust over within several days. When the rash is at its peak, symptoms can range from mild itching to extreme and intense pain. Contact with a person with shingles may cause chickenpox (but not shingles) in someone who has never had chickenpox before.
