look at http://www.overclockers.com under thermal grease to see a less favorable test of G751(the predecessor to X-23-7798D)

G-751 is used in Coolermaster's premium thermal paste.

Anyone want to try this stuff? I emailed their parent company and found out that the minimum order is 50 x 1gm syringes at a time. The price is 2.16/syringe, but they didn't quote me shipping.

I kinda want to try the stuff. Winter will be a good time to do this since they recommend storage under 10 degrees C.

Thermal Conductivity: Listed specs do not seem better than ASIII which is around 9.0, if I'm not mistaken. However, I wonder if ASIII's number includes solvent? (Edit) just found ASIII's specs for thermal conductivity: >9.0 W/m°K (Hot Wire Method Per MIL-C-47113) per their website. I'm thinking that the Shinetsu products succes in tests has to do somehow how it sets...or something...I dunno...

Viscosity: 1000poise

More than 6.5 W/mK (with solvent)
More than 10 W/mK
(w/o solvent, as X-23-7801)

1. Suggest to store the material under 10 deg
C. Once open the lid, please use it up as soon
as possible.
2. Require stirring the material up before using.
3. X-23-7798D contains 1.6wt% of solvent as a diluted component for application of screen-printing. Therefore, require removing solvent after putting X-23-7798D on substrate. Recommendable curing condition: 60 deg C x 30min

well...let me know if you're up for a grand experiment. I only call it grand because I have to organize the thing...and because u can't seem to buy the X stuff anywhere...
I'm posting this on other forums to drum up 50 ppl...

Put me down for three tubes.

I got a tube of 751 a few months ago to play with. I'd heard about what a PITA it is to spread so I decided to practice on a spare CPU I had laying around. It was so hard to spread evenly that I just never got around to actually trying it on one of my systems. This latest stuff supposedly spreads easier so I'll give it a whirl.
