i use a copper shim on my celeron2 566 for stability sake , not cooling . i dont like how the shim slides around on mounting , no matter how hard i try to square up the HSF on the CPU. ive been thinking about using a couple small spots of arctic silver adhesive to mount the shim to the HSF , i dont see why this would cause a problem , but what do yall think??

thanks mike , i brain-locked that one. maybe i could lap down the shim after installation. my main concern though was with possibly upsetting the dispersion of heat across the sink .

it may or may not... just something to look for if you do glue it on.

the other thing you might want to do, maybe use a few "drops" of silicon grease. that should keep it from sliding around, too.

thanks again mike... i tried the grease trick a while back , unfortunately it didnt work . im gonna give it ( arctic silver adhesive ) a try and see what happens , the best lessons are the hard ones ive found. it should work since its designed for mounting heatsinks.
