Hi, when I use my left shift key it opens the search function, its like it is bound to something. Is it just soda or something stuck in the keys? But what close to the shift key opens search? I thought it was a key combination. I'm using XP. Any help would be appreciated.

Borrow a keyboard from someone else and see what that does.

There are some programs that will allow you the ability to remap keys . . . have you installed anything lately?

No, I didn't install any new programs, I'm guessing its just my keyboard, so I'm going to buy another one (its just a $10 one :p). Thanks for the reply.

As you read this, you should be back from the store . . . hopefully with something better than a $10 keyboard . . . and things should be back to normal.

If that works out, then you might want to take the old keyboard apart (it's a pretty simple device) and see what you can see. many times, it is a matter of trash or nicotine residue, or something else like that which is quite easy to spot. Having done that, and made an apparent repair, then you can test it and if it is solid than you gave a known good spare for the next diagnostic job <G>.

Actually, I did go out and buy a $10 keyboard, thats what I had before and they're not that bad of keyboards :). It works fine, so I guess it was something in the keyboard. You have a good idea to clean up the other one and keep it as a spare, I'll do that. Thanks again.
