A poster takes a view of an upcoming event that he hates and politically disagrees with and then refuses to provide a link to it so people can check it out themselves while he preempts someone else from posting on the subject. That's a pretty tricky way of limiting the debate. Only a liberal Democrat would have thought of such a sleazy way to control a subject, my kudos to the scumbag OP.

Suck it up pumpkin. Or just suck it. Either or I couldn't care less. Hopefully you at least feel like a big man after posting though.

I'd say it was a little more of the equivalence of not dignifying something with a response. It doesnt' deserve to be discussed except as a joke. We all know it's total bullshit, even the people who are making the claims know deep down they wouldn't question the birth of a white President. And from your posting history, I'm not sure you have a leg to stand on calling someone else a scumbag.

You're a wise man!

He's bumping this albatross back into the news? Obama should send him a thank you gift basket.

I've never heard of a law official needing an election before. What's with the U.S. and its fetish with making every position an elected one? Judges, prosecutors, police officers... There are obvious benefits to making these positions elected, but serious and very real downsides as well. You're taking serious jobs and turning them into popularity contests.

Because they serve the people. The people have a say in who holds those positions.

The only reason you posted something about it is so you could limit and stifle the debate. I was complementing you on your sleaziness.

Oh, they got hearsay too. This one is as good as in the bag.

Maybe the Donald provided some funds for his top private investigator Oily Touretts to continue her investigation.

Why would he post something about it if his intended purpose was to "limit and stifle the debate"?

Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid?

In the context of one of the most idiotic right wing conspiracy theories ever, which apparently refuses to die, this is probably not the best context for calling out the left on anything. Birthers deserve every ounce of ridicule they receive.

Police officers aren't elected. I've not even heard of a Police Chief being elected. Remember, down here police are law enforcement serving under the authority of a town or city. Police chiefs are usually hired by the mayor.

Sheriffs are a much different animal in many respects. I think it stems from Old England. The sheriff is usually the most powerful politician, or office holder, in a county. (A county is much larger than a city, typically there are several cities within a county.)

As the most powerful office county wide, most people here consider it appropriate that they are elected and not appointed.

I'm not a birther, in fact I think the whole birth certificate story is a joke, what i'm bitching about is the way the OP posted about the story and then doesn't want to discuss it.......it's his own damn thread.

I particularly admire the nefarious way he prevented you or anyone else from posting a link in the thread...

Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid?
Why do you refer only to his childhood?

And if you'd only criticized the OP, which I already had, I wouldn't have replied. Instead, we got "only a liberal Democrat...." Not only do I doubt that "only a liberal democrat" would conduct himself in such a way on a discussion forum, but this can be turned around to "only a conservative republican" would believe in this birther crap. The latter would actually be close to the truth, BTW. Every conservative isn't a birther, but there aren't a heck of a lot of birthers who aren't conservatives.

Elections for judges are a terrible idea that I wish we'd get rid of, although I do approve of the option for the voters to remove particularly bad judges (former California chief justice Rose Bird is a good example of when that sort of thing is needed.)

Rose Bird was a great judge who was removed by a cabal of business interests and pro-death penalty nutballs. Republicans have a history of pushing recalls that turn out badly. See Gov.
Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Rose Bird gave her oath to uphold the laws of the State of California, she then broke that oath. She deserved to get voted out and I was one of the people that was happy to accommodate her.

LOL, hate to break it to you troll, but the FACTS are Obama was born in the US, so people that don't believe it are idiots, who refuse to believe facts. There isn't any grey area, there aren't two viable sides, there is the truth, and everything else...you and this sheriff are obviously on the "everything else" side.

And LOL at one of the top AT trolls calling somone else scumbag, look in the mirror much?

Uhhh-Waaah! Let me call the Wahmbulance.

Sheriff Joe is a folk hero to God only knows how many fringewhack proto-fascists & Birther boneheads. A quick Google reveals 182,000 hits for "Arpaio Birther".... This stuff isn't hard.

It's his way of fighting back against the DoJ for naming him in civil rights complaints- attack! attack! attack! as if it'll get him off the hook, denying Obama's legitimacy...

Typically Sheriffs still answer to the County Commissioners, as it is the County Commissioners who run the county and make budgets.

This particular sheiff has had dozens of lawsuits filed against him and his department. Hes cost his county millions of dollars and yet the idiots still vote for him.

Denying Obama's US birth will get sheriff Joe nowhere, as the US department closes in on Sheriff Joe for contempt of court.

After all, none of the lawsuits against Joe the fool, label the issue Barack Obama V Sheriff Joe.

And if Sheriff Joe goes to jail for contempt of court which he is crusin for a brusin for, his supporters can ineffectually mount various free Sheriff Joe campaigns while ole Joe sits in jail until hell freezes over.

And if Sheriff Joe answers the US beefs, he will open hiss county and himself to proof he has systematically abused the US civil rights of others and get his county get its ass sued off.

As for me, it could not happen to a nicer guy, I have always thought Sheriff Joe would look good in a bright pink or orange jail jumpsuit.

Tic tic tic, Sheriff Joe your game is a running out of time.

I wouldn't provide a link to world nut daily either. I refuse to add to their hit count and thus their bottom line. being a nut yourself I'm sure you already have it bookmarked.

Then how about he just link from Reuters?

My problem with the OP was his abuse of the forum rules (imo) It's his thread, but he refused to link any information to it. If he didn't want to discuss the issue he shouldn't have started the thread.
