Being accused of being a sheep is often used by both the left and right so I would like to post some of my own thoughts that haven't made it to the Rush/Hannity/RNC/DNC/Michael Moore filters.

1. If Clinton was waging this war the left wouldn't be carrying signs saying he is Hitler.

2. If Clinton was waging this war Republicans would be calling it his 'vietnam' mess.

3. Iraq is a mess because of 30 years of Saddam, corruption, 12 years of sanctions, arabs being tards.

4. Some on the left have a pathological hatred of Bush.

5. Some on the right have a pathological hatred of Clinton.

6. Rush Limbaugh is a well paid idiot.

7. Michael Moore is a well paid idiot.

8. Arabs will scream Death to America and complain about their treatment and then allow into power yet another dictator and kiss his authoritarian ring.

9. Europe needs to do more and debate less.

10. I'm glad I don't live in Iraq or any middle east country.

11. I'm thankful for all the soldiers that fought and died so a place like America could exist.

12. Oil isn't evil

The US played a large role in nursing his regime, don't forget that.

Agreed. Unfortunetly, his utter failure of being a president doesn't make that look as bad as you think it does.

Surely some will, but you're trolling the dangerous waters of over generalization here. I don't put all conservatives in the same boat as neocons, you should do likewise with the Arabs of the Middle East.

If the positions were reversed, I'm sure you'd be complaining about them expecting us to bail them out of their own mistakes. The various European countries will look out for their own best interests, as will we. If they are bound by some contract to aid us in our folly, please point me towards it.

Good for you; have you ever visited the ME though? I'm American and have spent 5 years plus living in the Middle East and had a great time. Overall I found the people to be very friendly and tolerant, unlike some areas of the US I've lived. To each his own.

As am I. Were it that many of them only died defending this country, and not the fiscal or political agendas of large corporations.

Of course it isn't. The pursuit of it being more important than national security and human life definetly is however.

Clinton wouldn't have been waging this war (assuming you mean on Iraq as that's the only unjust one fought in the last couple of years) as he would have waited for inspections to continue (as he's on the record for saying) which would have turned up nothing. HAD the inspectors found something, THEN we would have had justification if Saddam refused to immediately destroy it.

And, if Clinton had gone to war, the right would have found something to complain about. Most likely dragging up the Monica thing again and shouting "Wag the dog!"

Doubtful. Clinton would have listened to his military and used their recommendations, unlike Bush/Rumsfeld.

Look idiot, not every muslim country is run by the House of Saud ok? My family was treated like damn royalty when I lived out there. Need I point out the social failings of our own country, many areas thick with the same kind of religious and cultural self-righteousness you're whining about? If I had to pick between living in Qatar or the Bible Belt of the Southern US, I'm going with Qatar. In five years I never had a single Arab label me an infidel and berate me for being an American. You can't go a week in Pensacola or Birmingham without some Baptist nutjob ambushing you on the way to a bar or club, turning red in the face over how you're going to burn in hell for having the nerve not to see things the way they do.

Go out and see the world before attempting to sound worldy. We have our own variety of ignorant fundies over here, and they're not afraid to malign or kill for what they believe in either.

The truth hurts don't it? If you expect to throw generalized sarcastic labels around and expect to be taken seriously, then you are an idiot. I don't 'suffer fools lightly,' call it a character flaw if you wish. Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the list is growng, albeit slowly. I guess it's to be expected in that part of the world, as the ME didn't go through huge religious wars and inquisitions - they're learning the lessons Europe did, just at a slower pace. Even Saudi Arabia is now breaking into elections. Attitudes like yours aren't likely to speed up the process, but you just go on saying what you want without having seen things in person, don't mind me.

I "bash" the Bible Belt from experience. Care to present any of yours? Believe me when I say there's more than a few 'thumpers' down there, and their indignant, self-righteous efforts are far more common than you would believe. Hell, they'd even follow you onto campus, into Books-A-Million, out to clubs, etc. One Xmas I had 3 of them waiting in my parking lot, ready to harrass me with flyers and 'love; the second I stepped out the door! And as a matter of fact they DO kill people down there for thinking differently. Two men were gunned down about a 1/2 mile away from my apartment outside a women's health clinic one day. Some guy was under the impression jesus wanted him to save lives by putting bullets into people. I couldn't care less how these southerners vote, I try not to worry myself with the actions of the silly people, but know many of them don't share the same idealogical afflictions as the hardcore Baptists. People like you talking out their ass is another matter...

My response, in order.

1. That kind of rhetoric on the left is inflammatory, divisive and wrong. It also hurts the credibility of the left, which is counter-productive.

2. Clinton may have listened to his advisors and planned better for the occupation instead of giving a bulldog with some pet theories free reign. He was a much more hands-on kinda guy. But it's hard to tell.

3. Although Iraq was a mess because of the first 3 reasons, the U.S. magnified those problems tenfold by bombing the crap out of the infrastructure and being completely unable to maintain civil order. Your 4th point was racist and stereotyped.

4-7. Duh. Not very insightful or productive. I will defend Moore's earlier work, though it is a little simplistic and trite.

8. History is full of examples of those very dictators being placed in power by the U.S., Britain and France. In fact, the U.S. aided the coup that deposed the democratically elected and hugely popular Prime Minister Mossadehg and giving dictatorial powers to the Shah. This led to the the revolution in '79, which led to a huge increase Anti-Westernism and religious fundamentalism throughout the region. Which was staunchly opposed by the secular Bathists in Iraq, hence, the Iran-Iraq war.

9. Do you like Europe telling you what to do? Return the same consideration.

b. 10 years of harsh economic sanctions

I wish you guys would quit trying to divert any criticism of Bush by making it an emotional issue and not disagreement of Bush's political, social, economic, foreign, and domestic policies.
