Great character acting, great story, great camera work, etc etc.
I loved that Dupree sp? got away in the end and how Morgan Freeman overcame his fears and met up with him in Mexico. I also love how as the warden opened the shoebox and saw the dirty shoes the escape sirens started sounding the next 5 mins of him trying to figure out how he got screwed was great. Just something about a man overcoming his obstacles and living out his dream and maybe bringing along his friend in the process, makes for a warm fuzzy.
its not a just a great story its a great film. All of the acting in the film is great..the music is great and above all else the Cinematography is just awesome. I took a film class in college and we studied this film in it. A lot of the camera angles, colors, and everything fit together so well and is purposely done its just great.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Hell, it's probably my #2 favorite movie. It's one of the movies that whenever it's on, I stop what I'm doing and watch it. I just HAVE to see it. Everytime I watch it, it's as if I'm watching it for the first time and I trick my brain into thinking I don't know what's going to happen at the end.
It's just a great film, hands down, no ifs and or buts about it. Great work from both Freeman and Robbins.
I see there are some Robbins/Freeman fans here. To you (and everyone else!) I wholly recommend "The Hudsucker Proxy". Again, Freeman is a character who narrates and Robbins is the star. It's not a well know flick (I don't think) but it's really really good, and has a unique style.
