I always use an electric shaver myself. I still don't have a receding hairline, I just like the way it looks, and it's so easy to maintain.
WTF... it takes me 20-30 min to properly shave my head with a razor. What are you freaks doing that it supposedly takes 2 minutes? Are you only going for one pass in one direction?
Holy crap, you rooted deep down enough in your purse to find your balls, reattach them, and post a witty retort. I'm just dissapointed I didn't see this earlier - we might have been able to have an exchange of insults.
Oh, and I don't think I've ever listened to Danzig.

Once you get used to it, shaving your head is a piece of cake. I use a Mach 3, while I shower. Eventually (usually 2-3 times in) you get a feel for it and you wont even need a mirror. I keep my dome shaved at least 3-4 times a week. I also just shave my head and face at the same time to keep things even.
Watch out for the curve of your skull in back towards your neck. It gets a bit tricky there and you will probably nick yourself more back there than anywhere else.
As for the Headblade, I would say skip it. I used it three times and I about killed myself trying it. Crappy double edged blades you have to use. And the damn thing got caught on my head in back and cut me really good.

thanks for the replies guys and special thanks to the support of the fellow baldies.
I'm going to go to a barber tomorrow, mostly because I want to figure out if a crew cut is the way to go (like 1/4 of an inch, as suggested) or to just shave it all off. Thinking sitting in a barber chair when making that final decision would be a good idea.
Tomorrow's the day - I even called my mom to warn her because she nearly fainted when i walked out of the bathroom years ago, expressing my teen angst at losing hair at 16 with a bic razor. She took it well this time, it's her dad's fault anyways
