Shaving Cream

It's that time again for me to pick up a new can of shaving cream. Anyone have any recommendations for one that won't dry out the skin on my face?

I get the cheap $1 bottle at Walmart and never have any problems. I do tend to get the ones with aloe in them, but I'm sure those without would be just fine too.

I used to shave with just water.

Now I use some shaving cream that is thicker than usual shaving cream. It comes in a bottle and you squeeze it out...

Whatever bar soap we're using for baths.

No. Use a real shaving soap and brush. BIG difference. No cream can compare either.

meh...shaving snob.

The whole purpose of shaving cream is to lubricate the face and hold moisture in the whiskers.

Bar soap accomplishes that for me just fine. If you want to spend $$$ on fancy shaving soaps and creams, be my guest.

Much of the time, all I use is warm water and a razor. No soaps, no creams.

i have some soap i have to mix up with water with my brush.

as for those saying useing Bar soap it will and can dry out your face.

I actually use a traditional DE razor, a Merkur Hefty Classic. I would go without soap if I could, but admittedly I am too much of a n00b here. It is only recently that I moved from cartrige razors, so I'm still picking up the finer points.

I would not recommend, however, going water only for a straight razor. Shaving soap has its purpose.

I have been using King of Shaves Alpha Gel... a tube goes a long way and gives me a better shave than stuff out of the can... no drying... you can get it at Target...
