shaving stomache = better looking abs
shaving chest = marginally better looking chest.

but if you look at most models, like for A&F or American Eagle, they're shaved....you can see everything...you can see it all

As I get older (I'm 38), it seems my body hair is getting thicker. I started lightly trimming my chest hair last year.

Plus, I'm into body building. I like to see the definition in my chest now that it's trimmed.

Also, last year I started noticing thicker, longer hair on my back and shoulders for the first time in my life. I trim that all the way down.

I also started lightly trimming my pits. That got so long it looked like I had two people in a headlock.

Growing old... gotta love it. :)

Wow... to think that many of the kids here actually quote and believe these myths about what's "manly" and what's not... I don't know if I should laugh or feel sorry for you... or maybe both (although I'm not the kind of person who laughs at a car accident).

Young women go for the metro looking surfer type. Once they hit 25+ they're attracted to the hair & musk. Don't conform yourself to what she wants. Next thing she'll tell you to dress alike & to help you pick a new sexy haircut. Tell her your not her ****** Ken doll.

I shave chest and back

you would have to if you are working the job you are working

When you are tanned, a shave chest/back looks better

you're from canada, so i suppose you probably tan in a booth?

If I have a G/F that tells me to shave anything, she'll have to suffer with shaving me down. I'm like an ape (except the arms).

I think if you like it that way then who cares. Saying its "gay" or "unmanly" is something people say when they are insecure about that thing and it makes them uncomfortable.

Nothing that you genuinely think is valuable/care about/like is "unmanly". If you are a man and aren't gay, then don't worry about it, let the whiners cook their own beef and eat it. People can be genuinely interested in making themselves look good....not because they are vain or anything, but because they just care about that. You should never condemn anything someone cares about. And no, people who try to look good or think about looks a lot are not inherently shallow. A lot of people simply care about that; but that doesn't mean thats all there is. I go to a tanning bed, I don't care what they think of that, I simply like looking in the mirror and seeing beauty. No, I'm not super stuck up or anything, its just something I notice. Its the same reason I love animals (cats especially), because I see beauty in them and I simply can't get enough of it/them. Its also why I'm so attracted to [only] hot women, much more so than all my other friends...something to do with perfectionism, I don't know. But anyhow...

So if you think you'd look better (or have no preference and your wife would like you to), then go ahead and do it. And even if you do have a preference, if your wife wants you to do that, why not? I'd love to do anything that would make my wife more attracted to me. I might not notice anything, but the fact that I know I'm satisfying her more than I used to every time she looks at me is so satisfying in itself.....thats half the reason of why I work out. So shave your chest. You're not interested in the other guys, so who cares what they think of your chest.

If your gf is Eva Longoria or Jessica Alba-ish, then I'd think about it. Otherwise, tell her to enjoy sleeping on the rug!

I say shave all the way!

Well I don't need to shave at all, as I could probably be less hairy the 90% of women before shaving.

That's just my thing though. I really hate body hair.

Shaving your chest isn't unmanly. It means your clean and care about the details. People who say it looks homosexual are wrong. Most homosexuals don't shave their chest. More often than not you see homosexual men v'ing their shirt to show it.
