great place for shaving


many people there offer old cheap SE razors for free or cheap. I love my adjustable gillete i have. Also have a Gem JR that is really nice.


edit: oh yeah i also have a cheap gillete none-adjustable DE razor. got it free with a purchase of creams. its old and abused but would work if i needed it to.

I don't like to see any little stray hairs poking out from under my nose...I couldn't get that tire-iron of a razor close enough.

actually i get a closer and better shave with my DE then i ever did with my mach 3. Also you can get good deals on DE blades ($15 for 100 or so).

the inital investment is expensive but well worth the money i have spent.

Here is another great place. to get your shaving supplies.. And before you spend another dollar on supplies I recomend you get their book, "The Art of Shaving" after you read it you will feel better with a smoother shave and less iritation. I can say that I learned a lot from it and feel much better, it was the best shave upgrade I ever made.

And before you spend another dollar on supplies I recomend you get their book, "The Art of Shaving" after you read it you will feel better with a smoother shave and less iritation. Wow...I've been shaving for 23 or so years and I don't think I could learn anything new from a book about shaving. What kind of things did it say? "Wet the face with hot water for 20 seconds" or stuff like that?
 
The Merkur safety razor I picked up only cost $30...it was on sale, as I don't think the store that I found it at was selling many of them...online, they vary in price from around $39 to $60.

Probably cutting myself up a bit because I am not used to working with such a sharp razor...that, and it doesn't pivot to the contours of the face...so the jawbone area sometimes proves a bit tricky.

Another thing real men do is spell "school" properly.

Was referring more to the old techniques of shaving that have gone to the wayside in favor of the current and very expensive cartridge shaving systems.

In the long run it comes out less expensive, and the shave I am getting from my new safety razor is infinitely closer and smoother then what I was able to achieve with a Mach 3 or equivalent razor...so good, that my 5 o'clock shadow is not as pronounced, and I am not getting ingrown hairs anymore.

The Art of Shaving site is a good place to start for all of your shaving needs...although it appears that they are repackaging some of the razors, creams and products more commonly available in Europe with their "Art of Shaving" label...but their prices are competitive to what I have seen elsewhere.

 
Shave like a man? Mach3 and water, that's all I need. Now that I'm shaving my head, too, I sometimes just add some Dove soap. Shave like a man.

My boss took us to the Art of Shaving at the Mandalay Bay in vegas and we all got the royal shave ($55.00) and they used a straight razor. Man, that was the closest shave I have ever had.
 
Depends on your skin. For me, modern triple blades work the best. While I've tried safety razors and find they shave much closer, I have more ingrown hairs and other problems.

Again, it depends on your skin and how your facial hair grows.
 
Are you kidding?

Real men use a straight edge (old school) or a combat knife to shave.

Also, real men can use a modern razor and not get a "painful and irritating" shave 😛

I've always wanted to shave my head with a combat knife like Riddick does in Pitch Black.
 
I have a pretty old safety razor that was my grandfathers, but I've never used it. I'd have to order blades.
 
You're all wrong. Its not about the razor...its about the shaving brush! *That's* the key to getting a great shave. If you use a shaving brush (preferably badger hair) to properly hydrate a decent shaving cream or soap (not the goo from a pressurized can) you can shave with just about any kind of razor you prefer.
