The SHARP AQUOS LC-46D62U incorporates a host of remarkable features that make it one of the best large-screen flat-panel televisions. The Full HD Spec 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution produces the sharpest possible pictures. With its exceptional contrast ratios, it delivers exquisite picture quality; it has native Contrast Ratio of 2000:1, and Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 10,000:1 with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology. The wide 176º viewing angle ensures a clear view anywhere in the room.

The LCD HDTV utilizes the next generation of Sharp?s proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel with Multi-Pixel Technology that splits each pixel into two segments and adds an advanced driving system. This results in as much as 60% improvement in color reproduction at wide viewing angles. The Enhanced Black Level delivers the deepest and most accurate black in comparison to any LC-TV; the Four-wavelength Backlight System allows the display of very deep crimson reds.

With its 450 cd/m2 brightness level, you can place the TV anywhere, near doors or windows, and still get to watch bright and clear cut images. The TV has built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes 2 HDMI inputs. It also features a sleek piano black cabinet with subtle, recessed bottom-mounted speakers. With the stand and speakers, it measures 44.38" x 31.31" x 12.17" and weighs 78.3 lbs.

Looks good. I'm personally waiting a few more months to get something around this size/quality for <$900 over the next few months.

As far as I understand, only the 46" and up Sharps actually have Sharp-manufactured panels inside (similar case with Samsung). Can anybody confirm this?

I'm assuming this model does NOT have the double-scan (120Hz) refresh rate??

Answer: No

LC-46D92U or LC-46D82U are the models I like (top of the line!) -- $500 to $1000 more ... I'll wait a while longer too.

I don't know much about this tv personally but my brother-in-law got one on BF for $999 and he loves it. I have seen this on sale for as low as $1299 (not including the BF sale). The Newegg deal looks like the lowest current price right now.

My parents got one of these on Black Friday. It seems to be a very good TV - no ghosting that I could see (and we played quite a lot of Gears of War and Super Mario Galaxy on it), which isn't a surprise, and image quality was very good (but I'm also guessing the set was not calibrated properly). The onboard speakers were decent, too, but I didn't have a good stereo to compare against, and the room was somewhat small. I was impressed with the number of inputs, although the placement of the VGA/minijack is pretty awkward to use - definitely run a female to male cable first, and then just plug in off that.

Their biggest pet peeve was the lack of decent labeling for the inputs - there are some presets, but they're horribly inadequate for anything but very basic components.

Friend of mine got this on BF for under $700... Huge YMMV, as the salesperson fucked up...

Now that I checked the number, the LC-46D64U is the one that my brother-in-law has. Was a steal on BF for $996 I believe. He got Sears (he works there) to PM it with a lot of haggling. SO I guess I can't speak for the model in this thread. Although, I have heard relatively positive things about most of the Aquos televisions.
