2 separate reports of orcas killing great whites were followed with disappearance of the populations of 100+ great white sharks in both areas.
also, one female orca has been documented to hunt great whites specifically for their livers.

Did she eat his liver with some fava beans and a fine white Chianti?

Orcas are intelligent big animals. It doesnt surprise me it took a great white. They also will kill other large whales by repeatedly smashing into them until they tire and drown.

I saw this show where a pod chased a grey whale mother and calf for hours until they got tired. Then they took turns running into the mother while another would hold down the calf until it drowned. Then they just took off without eating it. Must have been for the lulz.

And they are so friendly towards humans. Like dolphins, they just want to tag along and see what we are up to. Weird how they are the top predator of the ocean.

I saw that on the Discovery Channel documentary "Orca: Dick of the Ocean"

That orca was probably like "What's up humans, check this shit out." The shark was probably just hanging out because it smelt the dead sea lion, saw the whale and was like "hey how's it going?" Next thing you know, fucking killer whale starts chomping on the shark, who is like "wtf?" The the orca shows off it's kill to the humans and is like "yea, i'm that badass."

I'm pretty sure that's how it went down.

yeah, i saw them messing with baby seals. they would grab a baby seal and toss it end over end in the air and splash it around in the water until it died. then, they'd just leave it. they wouldn't eat it or anything.

clearly, orcas are the douchebags of the sea.

On a related note, thank you OP for not referring to the Orca as a "killer whale".

I guess it's similar to why people use Porpoise and Dolphin interchangeably though they are in fact different genetic "Families" (Families as in Genus, Order, Suborder, etc).
The Orca is a Dolphin in genetic classifications, and it's behavior is definitely closer to that of other dolphins versus being similar to other toothed whales.

I'm a huge fan of dolphins as marine mammals, their social nature specifically and enjoy reading about their behaviors and likely ancestors. I still say they are more likely evolutionarily linked to ancient Canines more than they are to - what I just saw on wikipedia, which states they are likely linked to such creatures as - cattle, sheep, giraffes, deer, antelopes, sheep, etc.
May not have evolved directly from an early canid, but most likely from a shared carnivorous relative, and such creatures as the ones I listed, are not descended from similar carnivorous creatures, and actually are from a completely different genetic split prior to carnivorous creatures coming into the picture.

I digress...

I want to see videos of Pygmy Killer Whale, of which sadly this isn't even a "common name" thing, and no one would remember "Feresa attenuata", or simply "attenuata" as a species name. Not directly related to the Orca, but kind of resembles a mini Orca, and again, is a dolphin. And more awesomely, it is more "killer" than the Orca - apparently being quite a ferocious little creature (more in line with the typical sizes of most other dolphins)

The footage of the drowning of the grey whale calf was probably from Blue Planet or possibly Planet Earth. Either way, there was mention somewhere else of orcas taking down a blue whale. But then, that's not that uncommon as even smaller blue sharks ("wolves of the sea") do that.

ah, Nature. It makes living a simple life an absolute bitch, and makes creatures to terrorize you if your species chooses such a boring life.
