sharing problem

Hi everyone,

This might seem to be ridiculous but i just wanted to know whether it
do-able or not.
I try to share my dialup with Dlink 704 router

This is my situation :
I have another computer that running ICS from Win 98 SE and from that comp NIC i connect to the router WAN, and hoping that the router can split it to 4 more computer (like to do NAT over a NAT-ed connection).

Anyway here's the ip assignment :

computer that run ICS :
ip: 192.168.0.1
subnet : 255.255.255.0

d-link 704 router:
wan ip: 192.168.0.2
wan gateway:192.168.0.1
wan dns : 192.168.0.1
lan address : 192.168.1.1

other computer running win98se (attached through router lan )
automatic from router

here something strange happen, when i put patch/straight cable from the ICS computer to router WAN the light in for WAN ( in front ) doesn't blink, however when i exchange it with crossover cable the WAN light blink.
But neither work , i mean i can't access internet from the computer that connected to the router.

ok , thanks for reading this long post
cheers

Hmm, I don't really know much about ICS, since I've never used it, but I'm thinking that if you are using ICS, you wouldn't need to use the WAN port on the router. I would think just plug the host machine into a regular port on the switch, and let ICS do the sharing between machines.

but it doesn't work.
it makes good sense to me , but am i missing something crucial here that make my setup not working.
is NAT inside NAT possible ???

anyone...
thanks for the reply.

*** SOLVED ***
thanks

nothing special actually.
just add anothe NIC in the ICS machine and it worked.
But note that the NIC has to be 10BaseT not 10/100 cause the WAN port is only capable of 10Mbit and connect them using crossover cable.

cheers
