Sharing multiple folders with an IM app

I am currently using aol instant messenger and don't have any huge complaints, but I recently decided that I want to share multiple folders to my buddy list through the app. I can't combine the folders because they're located on two different HDD's, and the size of the folders limit me from moving them around. Apparently, AIM only lets you share one folder at a time, and I tried adding a shortcut inside that folder to the other one, and it just downloads the .lnk when you double click. So, I'm looking for an app that can log on to the AIM servers and use my current buddy list but also share multiple folders. I've looked around on this forum, and I hear good things about miranda and GAIM, but am unfarmiliar with their features and functionality.

Can anyone recommend a program that will fit my needs?

ftp server? web server w/ links to the folders?

personally, aim and the share folder crap is suck. Do it right or dont do it at all, ya know? Its probably full of security holes anyways

I don't want to run an ftp server or a web server....as my initial message said...I'm looking for a way to share multiple files with my AIM buddy list. Are there any messenger apps out there that can sign on to the AIM servers and do this?

Not that I know. But all you have to do is send the ftp to your buddies 🙂 heheh

Sorry, just dont believe in those things. ICQ has one, dunno if you can put more then one folder though.

If you are going to want to share files like this, you need to get off that app and move to something else.

I would suggest finding the old Hotline Server and Client apps.

With Hotline, you have one app that let's you have IM's, chat, news postings, and of course shared folders. I don't think Hotline is in business anymore but the apps still work of course. Look for the 1.85 versions.

If you can't find them, and you're interested, lmk via PM (note these apps were free when they came out).

never heard of hotline, but i'll check it out, but i agree i need to get off it. Still looking for anyone who can tell me about the GAIM and miranda capabilities
