ok so basically im at college and they dont like it when they see multiple mac addresses on a single connection. so i want to basically hook up my internet like so

internet

xp pc1
|[crossover needed?]
router(through 2nd ethernet port)
| | |
pc2 pc3 etc.

if there is a good way to make sure that they cant see my router if i connect it directly to the line, please let me know and ill do that instead, i just want to avoid any issues.

how do i set this up to work out?

I thought if you had cloned your PC mac into the router "they" will only see one MAC addy. I mean its the router that makes the requests for the PCs so only one MAC should be connected for them to see?

I think you could use straight through cable to run PC > Router's WAN.

It seems if the first way of them seeing multiple MAC addresses when you use a router (assuming you have cloned your MAC address into the router), then it would seem to work even if you had the PC -> Router -> other PCs.
