I have dual nics in my desktop and have internet running into one and I have a cross-over plugged into the other linking it with my laptop, however even when they are both on it still says network cable unplugged. I want to share the internet from my desktop using ICS (both are winxp btw) but I haven't ever had to do it this way (router is out of option because school makes you register mac addresses with them for each nic you have, and you can't get to the internet with the router plugged into the wall to register the nic)

1. Consumer Cable/DSL Router can be ?Cloned? to have the MAC number of your computer?s NIC.

2. You probably do not have a Network between your computers. Make sure you have a functional Network before you try ICS.
