Sharing files

My roommate and I are both on the same hub. We both are on the same network, but when he tries to drag files to his computer from mine, he gets " make sure the disk is not full or write protected, or the file isnt currently in use" and it wont copy. If I copy from mine to his, it works fine. We both have windows xp pro, and I can't figure out what is causing this issue.

Possibilities include encryption, this would be your files encrypted from your description, the data files could be read only, sharing or permission violation, firewall. probably others as well. Really depends on how your setup and what other errors you might be getting in combination with the one you posted.

If he can play the files directly from your computer then it is definitely a permission issue. Is he trying to drag it from from \\Computer1\share to \\Computer2\share? This will cause problems if the share permission is set to only read only. If he is, try having him copy from \\Computer1\share to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop.
