Sharing DSL on two computers via router/hub - questions

heya,
found a lot of FAQ's and guides on this topic but they all seem kinda confusing, or don't describe my newbie problem entirely :/ so I'm asking here

situation: I've got two computers in the house, one in my room (main) the other in the living room (for my mom, not used too often). I've got 2mbit DSL, currently connected like this:

Wall -> (purple wire) -> Cisco 677 DSL router -> (yellow wire) -> NIC in my computer

the 'my computer' is the one I have in my room, which is like 1 meter from the wall plug. so I'd like to draw a long wire from the comp in the living room, to somewhere in my room and get the living room computer internet-ized.

i've bought a HUB, a 'Neteasy 10-base T' with 4 slots in the back, and one called 'Uplink'. then I've also bought a 10 meter long grey cable with two identical plugs in the end (think that's a flat-wire cable or something). what do I need to connect where? I tried connecting the yellow cable I've got, from the router (which only has one Ethernet plug btw) to the HUB's Uplink slot, then the grey cable from one of the four connection slots into my computer's NIC....nothing. or maybe I need to configure it somehow different?

all very confusing I know, sorry....any help would be appreciated 😀

PS: I tried looking at This guide, but i don't have a 'cable modem' or anything like it. only a DSL router which only has one plug for internet in the back and one (blue) for serial port configuring

I have a Cisco 678 The book is the same for both the 675, 678. So I am gonna assume they are identical for the purposes of our discussion..
The lavendar wire goes from the modem to walljack. The yellow wire (provided with your modem) goes from the modem to the uplink on your hub.
The grey wire (you bought) runs to your moms machine. From one of the open ports on your hub
An additional wire will be required to run to your machine from the hub.
once this accomplished. Determine if you have been assigned a Static Ip from your provider.
If so You are gonna need one of two things an additonal IP (so each machine can have its own addy)(Provided by your IP)
or A Router. I have a Dlink router it is sweet .. I cant imagine there is big difference in SOHO routers so which ever you find on the cheep should be plenty nice enough.
If you are on PPP (your ip is assigned automaticaly from your Ip) as far as I know a router is gonna be your only hope.
I am not exatly positive on the last statement., You could prolly persuade em to give you a couple of statics but it is gonna cost you extra.
or there may be some way for em to do the ppp direct from both machines over the line..
Bottom line save yourself alot of headache and buy a router.
Good luck maybe someone can clarify the (ppp, ppoe) thingy.
Good luck I got my router for 59.00

thanks for the help, but what do you mean by modem? all I've got is the router. and you're saying I need a second router?

btw i'm pretty sure i've got a static IP.....but anyway I can work this out with my ISP

thanks again

Good luck.. The 675 is refered to in my manual as modem (my manual is put together by qwest) Cisco calls it an adsl router.
so you are right. MY bad.
I guess what you need to know is if you are connected in Bridge mode or PPP
If you are assigned an manual IP or You are connecting up using PPP
Your router uses NAT so you should be golden on the multiple computer issue
