I am currently running win98 and 2k, but I primarly use win98. I would however like to move over win2k atleast for desktop apps, general web browsing, IM'ing and so on and probably games too eventually. My trouble is, I have all my apps installed in win98 and they dont all work in win2k - namely the MS Office series. It isnt that they wont work, but they do require a reinstall and I dont want to do that. And I really dont want to have to use seperate installs of Outlook. So is there a way to get the same install of the MS Office series to work in both win98 and win2k?
thanks,
-doug

You have to install each application in each OS. However, you can generally (but not always) install to the same location so that the application files are shared. Separate installs are required for the proper DLLs to be installed and the proper registry keys added.

Thanks, I figured it was a .dll thing, but before I installed, I wanted to make sure that I wouldnt screw anything up by installing again in win2k.
thanks,

To share your Outlook mail. Delete the Outlook.pst file in either Win 2k or Win 98. When you start Outlook it will locate the remaining .pst file and both OS's will use the same file. I have all my Office apps , MS Money, IE Favorites , Outlook and Outlook Express files shared between Win 2k and Win 98
