Sharing a folder with users on the network

I'm running Win2K Pro and am trying to share my mp3s with users on a LAN. The folder is in c:\mp3. Although I right click on the folder and create a new share with read access to everyone, the c:\mp3 folder does not appear in Network Neighborhood on any 98 machine. However, the same procedure works for sharing my CD-Rom drive over the network.

Are there some settings somewhere that I need to mess with to make this work?

Thanks,
Marlin

Most likely, you're using NTFS on your W2K box, and that's why the 98 machines cannot see the partitions. CD drives do not use NTFS, which explains why they can be seen by the 98 box's.

The file system is not the problem. Just go on the Win 98 machine and open windows explorer, under tools pick map network drive and check reconnect at startup/login. That should do it.

You need to set the permisions for the accounts. eg everyone. You can also setup passwords if you want.

I agreed with Finality. You have to setup the permission to that share folder with all user on LAN.

I third Finality and Wooster's comments.
Make them an account on your win2k box with the same login/password that they use for their win98 box.
