sharing a CD drive over a network

Ok, first off, I am not the most knowledgable in the networking area. This is what I want to do.

I want to be able to use the CD drive in my desktop to install things onto my laptop which does not have a CD drive. I've already got them hooked up and able to share files in the Shared directory, but I do not know how to get them to share the CD drive.

I have a D-Link router, XP Pro on both machines.

What steps do I need to take to get this done?

just right click on the cd drive and select sharing...then do the standard setup stuff like you would a hard drive or folder. At least thats all i did to enable mine to share when my kenwood 72 started giving crc errs

Well I don't know what standard stuff I need to do. The only folder which I got shared was the actual "Shared Documents" folder, or whatever it is called. 😱

doh...sorry...right click on the cd drive and select sharing and security. That will open the properties for that drive with the tab for sharing selected. There is some blue text there that says something about knowing the security risks click here. do so. That will open more text and click the box beside of share this drive on the network or something like that.
