Hie, I'm kinda new to this networking area and am wondering if I can share my Cable connection via a switch like the one that they're selling in buy.com? I have heard about a router but don't know what is it. I'm currently having a modem doing ICS at home with 3 other pc. Can I use the same way to share my cable connection with the rest in the house?

What's the difference between and Switch and a Hub anyway? Does both serve the same purpose but a switch with higher bandwidth throughout?

You can use ics. Instead of a modem you need a nic card. So the machine that shares the connection will have two nic cards in it. One that connects to the cable modem and one that connects to the switch. All of the other computers are also connected to the switch.

You might want to consider using other software for sharing the internet connection other than ICS if you want extra features. ICS in windows is pretty much feature-less.

Yes one NIC for the cable modem and one for the network.
