Sharepoint 2010 Admin Content database growing

So the amount I know about Sharepoint fits in the period at the end of this sentence. I have been googling for information on what the admin content database is doing and I am not finding a lot. The main issue right now is around 11:45pm and running until 12:45ish the size of the database grows by 8+GB. The next day I can have the database shrunk but there seems to be a consistent gain of around 500MB.

Can anyone point me in a direction to try and figure out what is going on with the database? Right now the SharePoint_AdminContent_{guid} database is larger than the content share that hosts the couple of site we have. Is this even a problem really? Maybe there is a clean up script that is failing? The event logs really don't give me anything to go on. The logs don't really seem to give me much to go on either. Any help or even "let me google that for you" links would be appreciated. When it comes to sharepoint I am not even sure what questions to ask.

The database itself is in basic recovery mode. It is the MDF file that is growing not the LDF.

Depending on how large or complex your site is, I can think of two things off the top of my head that might be adding to your problem. You might check your search and indexing settings. That can take up quite a bit of room. Also check your log level settings as well.
