If in the BIOS you set the shared memory size for integrated graphics to 256MB, is that portion of memory blocked off to regular system use? Or does the integrated graphics only use what it needs up to 256MB?
I have nVidia Geforce7050/nForce610i integrated graphics.
That setting will segrigate the video memory so if you have a total of 1gig system memory and the setting is 256MB then you will only have 768MB for the system to run on.
The bios posting will most likely show total installed memory no matter what the GFX takes.
Even if the card uses say 128MB that other 128MB will always be stored on hand for use only by the graphics card if it needs it. Think of it as a canteen full of water hanging around your neck. You only use what you need.
