Shared folder problem

I have two computers connected directly, using some crossover cable. This network is completely Win2k.

I created a folder on the host a while back. I think created a shortcut to this folder on the client's desktop. Several days ago, the host started asking for a username and password to access the folder. I tried logging in as the admin on both machines (logging into the folder, I was already logged in on the system) but it wouldn't accept the password.

I just decided to delete this folder and created another. It worked for a day of two, before doing the same thing.

What gives? Thanks

Yes, I rebooted several times between the time I setup the first shared folder, and when it went "bad". No, I didn't reboot after setting up the second one.
