Shared Calendar and Address Book

I can't believe I'm having this amount of trouble finding a solution for this:

With a Win2K based home network, I'd like to maintain a family calendar and address book. I've looked into using Outlook for this but it either requires Exchange(which I dont have) or shared folders(which are no longer available).

Ideally, I'd like to run an app that can access a single calendar and address book from a file stored in a shared directory on our home server.

Sounds simple enough, right? I cant find a current application/solution for this. I dont want to use an online service(like Yahoo) because I cant backup the files directly.

Do you know of a simple calendar/address book app that can run in a simple networked environment?

Yes sir .... I have a solution for you.

Keep in mind the "FREE" version will only let you share out about 20 contacts.

But as far as I can tell, there are no other limitations.

Thanks - it looks pretty good.

However, I'd like something a little more free-ish. I think $94 euros is a bit much for something that I should be able to do with the base product.

Any other ideas?

I use the free version .... like I said, the only limitation is the contacts.. I think I may be 25.

In my case, it was only the calendar I wanted anyway.... so it works great for me in that scenario.

Mostly so a secretary could set appts for her boss ... stuff like that.

It's the only thing like it I have found.... but I'll watch this thread just in case someone comes up with something.

I think I found something.

As it turns out, Lotus Organizer can do what I want. I had an old copy of SmartSuite 97 and it supports storing the main calendar/address book on a server.

Actually, it does one better. It can also store an installable "node" version on the server to install Organizer on a client. You can choose to run local or off of the network.

So the "node" install plus the main data file on the network drive is doing the trick. I think I'll upgrade to a more current version of Organizer just to be safe.

So now my wife and I can share a family calendar and address book.
