Have you tried those Sensodyne toothpastes? My ex had super sensitive teeth, but after a few months of using Sensodyne she was much, much better.

My right maxillary lateral incisor has microdontia. It's about half the size of my left maxillary lateral incisor.

I also only had two wisdom teeth rather than the usual four.

Oh, well what's interesting, is my teeth aren't really sensitive in terms of normal day to day life. Occasionally I'll get a tooth that gets kind of pained when subjected to cold (not one particular tooth, btw), and well... that's not even occasionally, more like rarely. It happens but not often at all. My sensitivity seems to be deep nerves that thoroughly dislike invasion by drills. ;)

on a side note, will recently receded gums slowly heal and return to their previous state? My last toothbrush was way too hard and using it for a couple months definitely screwed up my gums and they receded slightly on a few teeth. I'm worried about that, because as cavity prone as my teeth are, I don't want even a part of my tooth showing that has even less enamel on it, considering how much of a failure my normal enamel seems to be as it is (or whatever causes such problems as cavity-prone teeth).
I switched to one of those Crest powered toothbrushes that have an oscillating round tip and normal brush head, and it's extra soft and feels much better when brushing... but is it too late for my gums? Am I only now trying to prevent further recession, or can I actively help promote the gum line returning to normal?

I had braces to correct a canine growing at a funny angle, but don't have any retainers or after effects. I am 32, brush somewhat irregularly, and have NEVER had a cavity :)

I don't have much. I've got tailor's notches and a quarter of one of my front teeth is gone (been replaced with bonding).

As far as I know you cannot reverse the receding (unless you get surgery), but you can stop it from receding further. You are doing the right thing by using the soft brush and just make sure you spend time just massaging the gums with the brush.

An extra 2 minutes of gum massaging with your brush will save you a tonne of pain and money down the road.

My wife has had 3 full sets of wisdom teeth removed. The dammed things just don't know to stop growing. I've often told her that it PROVES she's related to the sharks...:D

I had what I like to call a "supertooth". My 12 yr moler and my wisdom tooth grew together to form one large tooth. It was funny when the dentist saw the x-ray and was like "what is that?" And by funny, I mean kind of scary.

I lost a third if my left/top central incisor in grade school. I finally had it ground down and capped. I have all my wisdom teeth. They fit just fine in my large head. my jaw is a bit crooked and I may have tmj. the dentist did not seem to care and I have not gotten a second opinion.

Meh, I have fairly normal teeth. I had braces 7th grade - 10th (? 9?) so they're nice and straight. I have a permanent retainer on my lower front 4 teeth.
