Are you a mutant or a relic from the past? Is there something peculiar about your dentition? Could you have been lead singer for The Pogues? I'm not talking about missing teeth due to accidents or removal (like wisdom teeth for example) but something that grew out of the ordinary (for example if you have a double row of teeth).

In my case, I have just three upper incisors instead of the standard four. Noticed that peculiarity a little while ago and my dentist confirmed it today. No gap though as the three occupy the same place as the four would.

So what about your chompers?

My teeth were kind of wonky growing up, but braces fixed that. My Mom said she had a tooth growing under her tongue when she was a kid. Kind of gross and uncomfortable I would imagine.

well the best I got is that for a long time (ike until I was 18) I had both an adult tooth and a child tooth in the same location, with the child tooth pushed 90 degrees of axis so it was horizontal into my mouth isntead of vertical down, but it eventually came out and you really can't even tell excpet the adult tooth is move like 2-3mm out of alignment with the other teeth (this is the third from the middle top right tooth fwiw, right after the vampire tooth).

OK, I don't know tooth names, deal with it.

My teeth were jacked when I was a kid. I had an overbite like something with a huge overbite. I had to get the Herbst System installed so they could bring my jaw forward and stuff. It was cool because they were hinges and I could take them out and screw with them, but they hurt like hell man. I still have the permanent retainer on my bottom row of teeth in the front.

It was so worth it though. I get compliments on my smile now all the time.

My spouse never grew wisdom teeth, and two of his baby teeth never fell out because the adult tooth never grew (they were missing), so he had to have the baby teeth pulled when he was in high school (or college?) and replaced with bridges. So he is missing six normal adult teeth, and not due to accidents or removals.

pretty sure I have a regular set of teeth, although with an unconfirmed risk of wisdom teeth though. not sure if extraction will be necessary, as dentists and my old orthodontist has suggested I might need future surgery due to wisdom teeth, but no one has said whether they have a risk of actually coming in. Can't remember how many they said I have and thus might need to be extracted at a later date.

I do, however, have quite the extreme sensitivity in my teeth... I got like super nerve endings or something, because nothing covers up the immense pain of drilling. Ugh. Full tube of novacaine never did much because make my face all numb, definitely felt any major drilling procedures. So, the last time I went to the dentist, I asked for nitrous in addition. Well, that helped put me into a very slight lala land, and was numb, but still felt the deeper drilling, but did take quite an edge off the more superficial dental work and really only felt the vibration in my head, opposed to sheer pain. Next time I need to go to the dentist for cavities (more on that one in a moment...), I'm definitely feigning a lack of effects from the nitrous... they ask how you are feeling after a few moments to see if they have the nitrous/oxygen mix at a good level for you: everyone is different, but they use a general mix (20/80 nitrous/oxygen, well... I think it's just compressed air in the tank. Not sure if they'd give you 80% pure oxygen, but I'm probably wrong and it might be pure oxygen). This way, I can get a boost in nitrous, and definitely get into my own world, hopefully where I won't care enough and my mind blocks what the nerves in my mouth are saying. :)

As far as cavities though, this is where my mouth really shines. Or, at least if we were in competition for number of cavities throughout life. I brush normally - although a recent too hard toothbrush caused gumline recession. yay :| ditched that sucker for one of those oscillating crest brushes - and still get quite a few cavities. Last dentist resulted in a few appointments for a number of minor cavities, with a few deep ones, but we ran out of insurance coverage for the year and I haven't been back... probably don't want to know what my teeth are like now. :shudders: But yeah, my teeth are super cavity prone. Was following an advancement in dental research a few years ago that resulted in a blended paste brushed on teeth that massively improved the strength of teeth to resist cavities for those plagued with teeth such as mine. Sadly, not sure this went anywhere. Funny note, is it used selective cross breeding of genetically-modified tobacco plants! Made a few different plant strains, selectively bred them, and after mixing a few generations or something like that, they got this super plant that when blended up and pasted onto teeth during a visit, worked wonders for like a year or half a year.

So there ya have it. I have a normal set of teeth, but I think I'd rather not if it meant stronger teeth. :(

Not really....I didn't have/need braces.

One of my front teeth was cracked longitudinally during a basketball game when I was ~20. It has been root-canaled, but not capped, so it's dead and kinda grey.

I still have two baby teeth on the bottom front because adult teeth did not grow in. I'm 31 but the dentist says they are still good (I credit the fluoride pills my mom made me take every morning).

I have very large canine teeth, both upper and lower. They all sit .25" lower/higher than my other teeth. I have had them my whole life... and was made fun of quite a bit in school because I looked like a werewolf or a vampire depending on who you ask.

Jugs

PS: Ohhh, I ripped out one of my wisdom teeth in a movie theater when I was 9yrs old. It was coming out of the skin in peices and I pulled them out one by one during a movie.

Yep and the weird part was I didn't have the other 3 pulled (yes, by a orthodontist) when I was 18. He was shocked after seeing the missing 4th, other than some scarring.
