Share amd xp cpu, m/b overclock experience

first, when i upgrade to xp cpu, and overclock them, yes they are stable and higher speed in benchmark, but i notice the boot up time is much longer (you can see it with the blue moving windowXp bar, 2 to 3 times more).

second, when i open some programs, eg CPU-Z, it take like 10 to 15 seconds to come up, it doesn't happened with my old althon cpus, they take like 3 seconds only.

i didn't notice these with my old althons overclocking.

test setup:
m/b: shuttle ak31 v3.1.
epox 8kha+
abit nf7s v2.0
cpu: althon tbird 1400
1700+xp thbed.
2500+xp bton

please share yours experience and tell me what is wrong with my xp overclocking.

Barton +2500 hits 3200 speeds with no problem (See rigs). It runs a bit hot since I have only one fan and it's not even running at full speed.

Hey, if you want fast boot times, get an Intel chipset motherboard.:D Just kidding. It's because you're running WinXP on those newer ones, but not with the older ones, right? Because the higher I clock my cpu's, the faster they boot and the faster my programs open, but I'm still running 98SE.

if running xp cpu@default 133 speed, the boot up time is ok, but when it goes to 150 or higher then very slow.
even with the nforce nf7s v2.0 with 1700xp+ running @10X200, i am not happy with the boot up time and i try open cpu-z it takes quite a while to come up.

Yes, I have the same experience. My boot up times were quite fast @ 166-177fsb. It got slower when I increased the fsb. I don't know why but it really doesn't matter to me as long at they don't take too long to boot. For now I like it at 222fsb.;)

Is it possible that Windows / CPU-Z read the stepping of the CPU, recognize a 2500+, then read the real MHz speed, recognize a 3200+ and that makes 'em waste some time? I have the same "problem" with CPU-Z on my 2500+@3200+. Starting CPU-Z takes quite a while in comparison to non OC. But my Windows is both times the same. I took my stop watch to be sure :D
