I never cared for Shaq...but he is definitely one of the best centers out there. He made the difference on the Lakers when he played there. He's a tree that stands in the middle and disrupts the other team's offense...then he gets rebounds. I forgot the exact numbers, but there was like a 26 point difference in the positive direction when he was in the game and a -15 point difference when he was out. Free throws aren't everything.

Update: O'Neal (knee) is out for the season, ESPNews reports.

Recommendation: Obviously, this is huge news - suddenly the Pistons become the big favorites in the East again, and the Heat will have to try to milk more minutes out of Alonzo Mourning when he signs.

reports are that the supposed Miami Herald report was ficticous.

Shaq hasn't even gotten an MRI done yet. He's definitely hurt, but hasn't announced how many games he'll be out (if any).
