lol people people, you all need to calm down and put your credit cards away. These cards aren't gonna go anywhere... just wait for confirmation that they will/won't be moddable. Why risk this much money without any assurance?

Because the prices might go up like it did with the PCI-E ones.

It took over a week for the prices to get where they are, and at this point only people who were out of the loop for that long are being forced to pay that much for it. The prices only went up $5 or so within the first 2-3 days AFTER they were confirmed to ALL be moddable. You have the choice of paying a few bucks extra for a card you know for sure is going to mod, or shelling out $200+ for one that you have no clue is going to mod. And what happens when they don't? These things are already selling "like hotcakes", a lot of people would end up getting screwed for being impatient.

This makes me want to hold off on one of the two FS deals I am looking at right now.

I would be very careful and wait for confirmation.

The sku that is mentioned takes you to a normal GTO on Allstarshop. I entered it into Pricewatch and only came up with the GTO with just Allstarshop linked.

That SAME SKU is being sold as a GTO^2 on the other websites.

I sent an email from Sapphire asking for confirmation.

I'm going with Kristopher on this one... he knows what hes talking about. Interesting nonetheless... Would be pretty sweet if it IS in AGP. Too bad I already bought 2 of the PCI-E versions... I would be so CPU Limited with this in AGP anyway (Athlon Tbird 1.3GHz)

Hrmmm.. I have an x800 pro modded to an XT PE and runs at 520/560 speeds but won't budge an inch over that without the possibility of artifacts. Which kind of bummed me out but when I got my pro I wasn't too upset because I was still at x800 xtpe speeds for a card I bought at $280 when the pro's were going for $400 (this was the first 3 weeks after initial release) and if you could find an XTPE you'd have to pay over $800 for one.

Hrmm.. spending $200 right now though for a card that can go over 600 on stock cooling (well possibly some are and some aren't) makes me want to try. That is speaking for the PCIe versions tho. I really want confirmation to these AGP versions. If they are solid, I'm so plunking down the cash.

Even if it is agp, just how long will it take for someone to confirm if they got a paperweight or not....

Sapphire's PR Director just told me he never saw anything with regard to an X800GTO^2. He's looking into what the merchants posted.

If it is a mistake, the online sellers should give a full refund with no restocking fee for their mistake for anyone ordering this.

A correct bios mod would still be needed.

Am I wrong? or can the PCIe bios be used? Who wants to be the first to try?

Just got off the phone with a guy in sales. He said that he called up Sapphire to confirm that these were indeed the ^2 versions and that they were AGP and was confirmed on both counts. There have been conflicting accounts though, so it's probably safer to hold off. I bought one cause mine just went kaput on me today and as far as $200 cards go this one ain't bad.

Edited to note: first post! w00t!

If like nvidia cards, the bios can be taken from the card, then edited with a bios editing tool to enable pipes and change clock speeds, then re-flashed to the card.

I wouldn't worry too much about this anway. If it is moddable, someone will edit a bios and put it up for download within a few days.

I wouldn't flash it with a pci-e bios. That will possibly kill the card. But with most bad video card flashes, you should be able to re-flash it if you boot up the system with an old pci video card.

Allstarshop now says GTO, not GTO2. They say 12 pixel pipelines, and 128/256mb RAM. There are some pictures too. I don't think this one has the r480 core. ATI's naming scheme for the x800 series may be the worst and most confusing ever.

Gumby - please post back and let us know what you think of your new card.

Page Comp. = Beware

YMMV, but IMHO Page Computers scares me a little bit. I was pretty optimistic that they would get their stuff together and everything, so I ordered the PCIe version from them last saturday (10/1) when the PCIe deal was so hot. Card is finally on it's way, but it took online chatting, emails, and 2 calls to customer service to find out if it was indeed going to ship and what the tracking # was. Not supposed to arrive until 10/12, 11 days after I ordered. I just hope it's the right card and works and my credit card doesn't get overcharged.

I'm sure these guys have all the best intentions and aren't deliberately trying to take our $$, but they have a way to go to keep up with someone like Newegg when it comes to putting the buyer at ease.
