Just got some great Friday news: my promotion just went through and will be backdated to be effective Sept 1st. This marks the 2nd promotion and 5th overall pay raise in 2.75 years.

The only downside is I hit the title ceiling for technical work pretty quickly. There are talks of overall realigning our structure but if those fall through I'll need to make a decision about manager track vs smaller pay increases.

But thats future me problems. Today is a good day :)

congrats! man.

thanks!

Whats a raise, and how do I get one?

Find a non-crappy company. Took me awhile as I worked for one that went bankrupt while I was working there and another that was struggling and is now in the process of being ripped apart by various aquisitions

Congrats man. 5 raises in less than 3 years is pretty sweet.

Thanks. Its nice to finally work for a company that:
1. Values its employees
2. Can do something to show it

That doesn't sound like a problem. If you enjoy the work, and you make enough today, you don't need more money aside from cost of living increases. Be happy you have a job that doesn't suck.

Congrats on the raise :^)
