Mainstream rap is all thats good. "underground" rap is bad music with lame beats and everyone thinks its hard because of what its called. Then theres old school which is just mainstream from a while ago.

Ignorance is bliss. mainstream is garbage. The basic foundation of rap is rhyming...mainstream rap has no rhyming, only choruses over recycled and regurgitated beats. There is absolutely no originality in mainstream rap (with the exception of a few, RE: Outkast).

I stand corrected, mainstream isn't intelligent or creative in most cases but is more widely accepted because the music is catchy to people with no attention span, or just dont want to use it. I guess non-mainstream can be good to a trained ear, which is how i feel about scratch music.

almost all lyrics and music is regurgitated today....most musicians can pick out riffs and slight key changes of old 'hits'.

It's the same in country, rock, and rap...

Record studios want reproductions of what already worked....the artists that cater to that get signed.....then you have the ones that just reinvent everything each time that the studio's also love (because now they can sign on imposters to sell more copycat records)....

You will see it all the time some song hits number 1 on the rap, country or rock charts and then you have 10 more on the radio that sound just like it.
