Why do people buy rigs not all at once? On the average, doesn't downward pricing pressure mean you'll end up with more for your money if you buy at the last possible moment? (Black Friday sales and the like notwithstanding...)

It's all a judgment call on timing. Occasionally a really good deal with pop up. I was planning to wait until June to get an all-new setup with Haswell but when I heard that AMD 8000 was delayed to Q4, I upgraded to a 7870 with the game promo. It'll go in the new rig. By the time I sell the old card and have mined up to building the rest of it, I could potentially gain money on the upgrade. (Speaking of which, I'll hope to have a FS thread sometime soon).

Each time I've been building a system, I've come across components where I thought "wow, not more than a few days ago that was less." Buyer's remorse with computers doesn't always come after the buy.

lol recall every ordering detail you've made in the last 10 yrs, then we can talk ;)

The difference is that I don't forget things and then leap to "Shafted!!" as a childish excuse. You can't remember much of anything, yet you're sure NewEgg is to blame. Nope, doesn't work like that in the big boy world.

The sales associate kept pushing about Extended Warranty purchase.. but regardless the Iron Egg return policy is a no purchase policy

What am I missing here?

You can return stuff you didn't purchase?

But if you didn't purchase it, how did you end up in a position to return it.
