Shafted again by New Egg

The PSU advertising page stated an EXTENDED RETURN POLICY for the item being advertised. No purchase necessary.

Purchased a Seasonic X 650w 11.21.12, never used it.

What the issue is is that the live chat associate kept telling me that there never was an Extended Return Policy with this item. The page clearly stated this (I forget the normal things but this stuck out to me) Then kept indirectly answering me with Extended Warranty shit.

Lesson learned? take a screen shot of things like this because Sales departments like New Egg don't keep track of it.

EDIT: will be seeing this PSU in the for sale section

I can't say I have heard of an extended return policy before ... example?

Yeah, that's why it stuck in my head. I never see this before, but I took it for granted that New Egg understood people don't always buy their builds all at once and that a PSU is an item usually bought like a computer case, something that usually doesn't change through-out several builds and is a long lasting item thus can be bought before the rest is purchased. And with an item like that if it doesn't work months down the road when a build is complete it is more likely an eligible item to be returned. That's the sense the advertisement made to me because I understood this (builds like this) even before seeing it advertised that way. I remember thinking, wow they listen to their customers. Shenanigans on me

If there is an extended return policy it will be on your invoice. Check it and see if that is the case.

What I don't understand is why the 'Chat' associate didn't know about the Iron Egg return policy that was offered for the PSU I purchased at the time. It's not on there now but it was before.

They need to keep log of when it's advertised that way.

You're whining because you think a company should allow you to purchase something, sit on it unopened for 4 months, then return it???

If you don't intend on using something, don't buy it. I have a habit of doing this myself in the past, so I don't buy anything unless I'm gonna open it and use it right away.

Ps. You must have some serious post purchase regret issues if you buy something and leave it chilling for 4 months before deciding to return it.

This, if anything OP was trying to shaft NE but they would not go along with it.

I now know it was a 60 day return policy. I knew it wasn't a 30 day. I knew I seen a different return policy but didn't know the details. I kept telling the associate that I seen a different return policy. The Iron Egg return policy, which ElFinix brought to light. The sales associate didn't know it had that return policy at the time I bought it (AND SHOULD HAVE) and by a default response the associate kept telling me it was only a 30 day return policy. This is the part on New Egg is wrong. I'm cool about it now, and if the associate would of known then and told me it was an Iron Egg return 60 day return policy only I would of still been cool about it. It's just that something that was sold under a different return policy and then, through a loop-hole, not honored by the same return policy from the lack of company knowledge shows a problem with their Sales/Return department. The invoice also shows the mistake of not having the Iron Egg return policy on it.

All their regular stuff is usually 30 days. The iron egg items are usually 60. I've never heard of a 4 month return policy. You should not have issues selling it yourself though.

So, OP thinks his product has a 4 month return policy.
Newegg tells him there's only a 30 day return policy.

There's actually a 60 day return policy, which did apply to the item at the time it was purchased (but OP thought it was 4 months).

So OP was wrong, but Newegg was also wrong, and presented incorrect information to the OP.

Is that about right?

So in your thread title, you say NE shafted you again. What else did they do?

And if you're going to rant away about them, at least spell "New Egg" as "Newegg".

I was inquiring to find out, and as an addendum included returning the item. I've returned items beyond their 30 day return policy before .. but in the last 10+ yrs I can't remember exactly what. But when the associate told me it only had a 30 day return policy, I knew they weren't responding correctly

If you were shafted by Newegg before, why buy from them again?

I have never had a problem with them and continue to buy from them. With Shoprunner, I get my items the next day.

Why do people buy rigs not all at once? On the average, doesn't downward pricing pressure mean you'll end up with more for your money if you buy at the last possible moment? (Black Friday sales and the like notwithstanding...)
