I believe the e7500 is legit (and probably a better deal than I'm offering) Thanks again everyone for flagging the e7300 prick. I too emailed offering to buy for $40, no reply whatsoever. I hope he's given up.

Very simple. Contact the 2nd buyer. Tell him that your first buyer backed out. Tell him you'll sell him the processor for $40. But... you can't make delivery until Friday.

You win - he'll stop bothering with the fake craigslist postings.
You get to sell your chip tomorrow for $65
You get to screw over the 2nd buyer on Friday.
Doc, has anyone ever told you that you're an evil genius?😛

Dang this dude is persistent. He says he "just wants a quick sale so he doesn't have to keep reposting" but he won't respond to offers to buy... What a tool...

HERE thanks again for helping me fight this one out ATOT, we should only have to keep it up till this afternoon I hope.

Ebay is your friend.

Yeah, like ebay is any better than CL when it comes to scams and scummy buyers and sellers.

At least with CL, as a seller, once the deal is done, you have the cash and there is nothing the buyer can do to screw you out of it (like complain to PayPal).

Of course its better. I was a Gold Power Seller with $40,000 in sales in 2006.

If you're a cynic, so be it. But Ebay works, like it or not.

Flagged. I have a lot of free time and a lot of hatred for selfish pricks that create BS to save a few bucks. Jackass could've collected cans in the meantime and made up the difference to buy the cpu instead of spamming craigslist.

Yeah, I feel kinda petty for going through so much trouble over $25, but it is the principal of the thing. Thanks for flagging

It worked in 2006.

How did you do in 2009?

I mostly sell personal items now. I sold a pair of my nephews Heelys two weeks ago. People just love to bitch about anything and heaven forbid a problem arises. Its the end of world. 🙄

For example, the first time the Heelys went up, someone bought but did not pay. No problem, after three weeks I banned them from my auctions and Ebay refunded my fees, while issuing a NPB strike against them.

And yes, I have lost money on Ebay, but I learned from that mistake. In 2006 when I was selling CPUs for mega profits, I had a repeat customer who was a computer builder on Ebay. Her business went under and paypal came back to me to recover its losses. I fought them tooth and nail, and only lost 1/3rd of what they wanted. Yes, bad things can and do happen, but for goodness sake Ebay still beats CL hands down.

Of all the things Ive listed on CL only one guy actually showed up and paid. All the others were losers who wanted to play head games. Bunch of crap.

I've generally had good luck with CL, (and eBay for the most part) This is by far the most annoying thing that I've encountered on either site.

I had a lot of luck last year posting an ad for computer repair/virus removal. This dude had a computer that died, and i ended up replacing his mobo for about $60 and giving him an old computer I had lying around that was worth $100 tops in exchange for a Refrigerator and Range that I ended up selling on CL for over $800

Ebay is not paypal.

Well, I was afraid this would happen. My buyer has backed out. Apparently he went with the e7500, I can't say I blame him, that was a sweet deal for $55. I guess I'll just have to wait and repost later.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

Hmm...are you sure we're flagging the right guy?

edit: Hmm (again)...the picture was taken in the store and Fry's doesn't usually give boxed CPUs in mobo/cpu combos.

the last several combos i've gotten were boxed. i think intel has been cracking down on tray CPUs being sold at retail.

what's odd is that he's clearly in store with it. CPUs are locked up in the cage and you don't get them until you've paid. i guess you could walk back into the store with it, but that's odd too.

I think this has gone past reasonable. The guy took a shot at convincing you the item wasn't worth what you were charging and he failed. His continued posting wouldn't make any sense - it's not like he's actually SELLING these at that price so it wouldn't deter potential buyers...

I think you guys are probably flagging real ads now...
