Not sure why this is such a big issue for you since you already have a buyer. Just ignore the guy...

As I already mentioned, the buyer I have can't meet till tomorrow. If he sees the fake listings he's either going to back out or try to renegotiate. I don't want that to happen

So tell him they were fake listings and show him your email trail with the guy.

this, or if he starts waffling at the exchange tell him that if he thinks he can get it for 40.00 bucks that he can go ahead and do that and that you had a firm price.

then, if as you say, they are fake advertisements, if he wants it, he'll come crawling back to you at which time you'll have him by the balls & you tack on another $10.00 or $15.00 for your trouble.

Flagged [for spam]. This is where the Anonymity of posting on Craigslist can just ruin valid posts.

Quick check on google/ebay clearly indicates $40 is too low for this processor [I'd be very suspicious if it was legit anyway - I'd want functionality proof before buying the chip].

I like this idea. Tell him to ah heck off if he thinks your price is too high. Tell him to go buy one of the $40 chips listed on CL by the "other" seller.

Very simple. Contact the 2nd buyer. Tell him that your first buyer backed out. Tell him you'll sell him the processor for $40. But... you can't make delivery until Friday.

You win - he'll stop bothering with the fake craigslist postings.
You get to sell your chip tomorrow for $65
You get to screw over the 2nd buyer on Friday.

Did anyone try to actually buy in from this other craigslister? It seems that would be an easier way of figuring out if it is legit. If he comes up with a BS excuse on why he can't sell it, we'll flag.

I was selling a car and after I turned down a guy that lowballed me my ad started to repeatedly get flagged and removed. In one day I had to repost it 5 times. He eventually called back and said if I still had the car his offer still stood. I happily told him I sold it for full asking price and where he can shove his offer.

I sent an email to the shady craigslister expressing interest in the processor. I go to UT and live around the campus area, so I can actually meet with the guy to see if its legit.

Edit: You guys ruined it by flagging the ad. The email got bounced back.
